Student Employment

Find jobs on campus

Student Financial Services has joined together with Career Services to make it easier for students to find jobs on campus through Handshake.

Handshake is an online career management platform for 天美传媒 students and alumni. Handshake provides access to job postings, career-related events, virtual career fairs, and more.

Students and alumni have two ways they can access the Handshake platform. The first option is by logging into and finding the Handshake link in the 鈥淐areer Services鈥 box located on the 鈥淗ome鈥 tab. The second is by visiting the Career Services page. Please note that you do not have to sign in to preview positions on the Career Service page but you will have to log in to apply.

For any questions regarding Handshake, please contact 天美传媒 Career Services at msu.careerservices@murraystate.edu or 270.809.3735.

Student employment is a program which allows students to work part time to earn money while in school. Most student positions at 天美传媒 offer an hourly rate of pay that aligns with the university's minimum wage of $8.00 per hour. However, certain positions may provide a higher hourly rate of pay. It is the student's responsibility to seek out, apply to, and secure a position - the financial aid department cannot do this on the student's behalf.

Earnings will never be automatically applied toward a student's account. Payment will either be applied to a student's bank account via direct deposit (if set up by the student) or a paper check will be mailed to the address we have on file for the student.  All Federal and University student employees are paid bi-weekly.  Graduate Assistants are paid monthly.

On-campus employment through any of these programs is not guaranteed. All student employees are required to perform their duties in a satisfactory manner.  They are to follow their work schedule diligently and they should be prompt and regular in attendance.  Departments arrange the job to accommodate the student's class schedule.

Student and Graduate Assistantship employment is at will and may be terminated at any time without cause.

Federal Student Employment Work-study Program (FWSP)

The Federal Student Employment Work-study Program (FWSP) offers on-campus employment to eligible students who meet a federal needs test as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The amount of hours students are allowed to work each week is determined by their eligibility on their FAFSA. Once awarded federal work-study, students may apply for a position on campus. Students are encouraged to seek employment in community services, service to students with disabilities, and in activities in which students serve as mentors.

University Student Employment Program

The University Student Employment Program offers jobs to students who are enrolled at least half time and who normally do not qualify for the Federal Work-Study Program. On-campus employment through either program is not guaranteed. The amount of hours eligible to work is determined by the hiring department.

Graduate Assistantship Program

The Graduate Assistantship Program offers work to qualified graduate students. Contact the department head in your graduate field for more information.
