Welcome to the Adolescent, Career, and Special Education Department at ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ University!

We are delighted you want information about our department's challenging teacher education programs. This department offers a variety of programs leading to baccalaureate degrees in middle and secondary levels of teaching. We also offer degrees in special education, health and physical education, and career and technical education. All of our programs are NCATE accredited.Once you have been accepted into the Teacher Education Program, you will gain an abundant amount of "hands on" knowledge through many field experiences (at local schools) woven into the professional studies courses offered at the College of Education and Human Services. When you become a graduate, you will be eligible for certification to teach in Kentucky schools and prepared for beginning levels of professional teaching practice.

Our programs will be the basis for continuing education and advanced study.

After you have received your baccalaureate degree, you can enroll in the Teacher Leader Master's Degree Program. This degree continues your teacher certification and provides a Rank change.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Adolescent, Career, and Special Education Department is to prepare high-quality educators and leaders for a diverse and changing society through classroom activities, practica, and clinical experiences. The department offers graduate and undergraduate degrees in Career and Technical Education, Health and Physical Education, Middle School Education, and Special Education, as well as secondary certifications in collaboration with multiple ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ academic programs. Teaching, faculty research, and service within the college, university, and region support the university's mission to foster an exciting and challenging learning environment.
