Learning Goals of Academic Programs in Business

Bachelor of Science in Business / Bachelor of Arts in Business (BSB/BAB)

  • Competency Goal 1:  Students will have fundamental business knowledge:
    • Learning Objective 1: Students will be able to demonstrate a fundamental knowledge of the core business disciplines.
  • Competency Goal 2:  Students will possess ethical awareness
    • Learning Objective 1: Students will be able to recognize ethical dilemmas.
    • Learning Objective 2: Students will be able to propose solutions for ethical business situations.
    • Learning Objective 3: Students will be able to explain the consequences of business decisions with ethical implications on all stakeholders.
  • Competency Goal 3:  Students will have practical business skills
    • Learning Objective 1: Students will be able to demonstrate effective oral communication skills.
    • Learning Objective 2: Students will be able to demonstrate effective written communication skills.
    • Learning Objective 3: Students will be able to analyze business problems using appropriate software, data sources, and tools.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

  1. Goal 1:  Body of knowledge in the various disciplines

    Core Business Knowledge: Students will possess the current working body of knowledge in the business disciplines of Management, Marketing, Managerial Accounting, Managerial Economics, Corporate Finance, and Quantitative Management Science.

    1. COB shall be >= to the national mean on the ETS MFT.

    2. COB shall be >= the national mean on 3 of the 5 sub-groups.

  2. Goal 2: Decision-making and problem-solving using technology

    MBA students will be able to use decision-making and problem-solving processes after identifying, analyzing, and applying relevant data in the analysis of business problems.

    1. Apply relevant evaluation tools for decision-making and problem-solving

    2. Perform an analysis of business problems

    3. Make facts-based decisions

  3. Goal 3: Written communication

    Students will be able to effectively communicate ideas in writing.

    1. Reveals sound logic and organization.

  4. Goal 4: Ethics

    Students will be able to incorporate the various ethical perspectives into their decision-making and problem- solving processes after identifying, analyzing, and applying relevant data and information.

Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS)

  1. Goal 1: Equip students with technical skills relevant for businesses
    • Objective 1:
    Use Information Systems concepts to address business problems

  2. Goal 2: Equip students with advanced data skills
    • Objective 2:
    Model, monitor, and analyze data using various data analysis tools and methods

  3. Goal 3: Equip students with managerial and leadership skills
