CSIS Programs

The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems offers several academic programs specifically tailored to meet the rapidly growing demand for professionals in the computer industry. According to the ,

"Prospects for qualified computer and information systems managers should be excellent. Workers with specialized technical knowledge and strong communications and business skills, as well as those with an MBA with a concentration in information systems, will have the best prospects. Job openings will be the result of employment growth and the need to replace workers who transfer to other occupations or leave the labor force". [Computer Information Systems]

and

"Employment of computer scientists is expected to grow by 24 percent from 2008 to 2018, which is much faster than the average for all occupations. Employment of these computer specialists is expected to grow as individuals and organizations continue to demand increasingly sophisticated technologies. Job increases will be driven, in part, by very rapid growth in computer systems design and related services industry, as well as the software publishing industry, which are projected to be among the fastest growing industries in the U.S. economy" [Computer Science].

We aim to fulfill this demand by offering graduate and undergraduate programs in Computer Information Systems and Computer Science. In addition, the department offers several graduate courses that could be used as electives by those pursuing the MBA degree.

Other options include Minors in Computer Science and Computer Information Systems. Please refer to the most recent University Catalog for additional details.

We are delighted to announce that we can now offer the combined UG+GR program to our majors. If you are a rising Junior, this is a good time to think about what classes you should take if you want to pursue this dual degree.

  • You can be admitted without taking the GRE/GMAT (but you do need a good GPA)

  • You can complete 4 classes - that's 40% of the program - as an undergraduate and have the classes count for BOTH undergraduate and graduate programs.

  • You pay the UG tuition rate. (almost 50% less)

  • Most government jobs consider an MS to be equivalent to two years' work experience
